At Teikokusou aka Teikoku Akita UK ('We') respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data.

Please read this Privacy Policy & Data Protection with care. In this section, it describes why we collect your personal data and it also provides information about your rights. It applies to personal data provided to us by applicant who would like to stay on our waiting list for upcoming litter.​

1. About us

We are an award winning show kennel based in the south east, greater London area. We specialise in Japanese and Nordic spitz type dogs. We are passionate about our breeds and progressing breed preservation.​

2. Personal data that we collect about you

Personal data, or personal information, are information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data).

We collect, use, store the following personal data about you. This may include:

Your name, contact details, marital status, the number of children (you may have/live with you) and whether you own the property you currently resides in.

3. Non Personal Data: Non personal data/information are those that do not allow identification of you/yourself.

In addition to the aforementioned personal information, we collect general or 'non personal data' pertaining to help us to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for us to place animal (dog) we bred. Such as your experience with the specific breed of dog you apply to adopt from us, your understanding of the breed of dogs etc.

We do not collect 'Special category' data about you (such as details about your race or ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, sexual orientation, political opinions, trade union membership, information about your health etc.);

We do not collect names and other details about third parties from you.​

4. Usage of your personal data

We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we will use your personal data in the following circumstances:

To register you as a 'adopter' (client) and to manage our relationship with you.

To help you with your enquiry and our selection of suitable adoptee (adopting our dog) the processing of your information is carried out on the basis of your explicit consent (with options provided in the application form).​

Where the processing is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us using the details set out in the application form or email us directly Teikokuakita@gmail.com. Please note that this will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

We may also use anonymised data, meaning data from which you cannot be identified, for the purposes of:

Service evaluation;

Education and research; or

Fundraising and promotional purposes.

Anonymised data may also be used in published reports or journals and at conferences.

5. Who we share your personal data with

Your personal data will be collected and processed primarily and ONLY by us 'Teikoku Akita' founders/owners. (Access to your personal information is limited to us ONLY who have a legitimate need to see it for the purpose of carrying out the task of evaluating your suitability to adopt/own the animal (dog) we bred.

​We DO NOT ALLOW any third party service providers to use your personal data for their own purposes.

6. Lawful basis for processing

Data Protection Legislation requires that we meet certain conditions before we are allowed to use your data in the manner described in this notice, including having a "lawful basis" for the processing.

The basis for processing will be as follows:

Consent. You have given us your consent for processing your personal data in the 'adoption application form'.

Contract (i.e.: final adoption contract) The processing is necessary for the performance of a contract or in order to take steps prior to entering into a contract.

Legitimate interests. The processing of your personal data may be necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by us, except where such interests are overridden by your interests or by fundamental rights and freedoms which require protection of personal data

Information security

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. We have established procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.

7. Data retention

We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.

We will keep your personal data according to the Records Retention Schedule.

Your rights

Under certain circumstances, you may have the following rights under data protection legislation in relation to your personal data:
